This is a short summary while the full terms are written.
Filmed and Uploaded
A clip is "Filmed on YouVS" when you made it with the app's camera. It is "Uploaded" when you picked it from your photo library. Every clip shows a small icon for which one it is: tap the icon to see what it means, and, for an uploaded clip, roughly when it was made. The icon shows what the app says about the clip. It is a label, not proof.
Only your own clips
Only upload a clip you made, where you appear in it, or where you hold the rights to everything in it, sound included. Don't upload other people's clips, or clips from TV, films, games, music videos or other apps. Get the agreement of the people who appear in your clip. By uploading a clip, you confirm this.
When you post, the app sends a fingerprint of the file (a code made from its contents). If the same file was already posted by someone else, your upload is refused. Posting your own clip again is fine.
Filmed-only verses
Some verses take filmed clips only: timed and speed games, live verses, ranked verses, Cups, games that ask for one take, a rematch sent with points, and any verse whose maker turned on Filmed only. An uploaded clip is refused there. You are never forced into a verse with an uploaded clip: you see the tag before you answer, and before any points go in.
Fakes and AI clips
We may remove a clip that is fake, made to trick people, or made with AI and shown as real. We may close an account that does it again.
Reporting a clip that is yours
If a clip on YouVS uses your work without your permission, report it in the app: open the clip's menu, choose Report, then Copyright (or Not their clip). A report from the app reaches our moderators at once.
You can also send a written notice to our copyright agent (below) or to support@youvs.app. Include: your name, postal address, phone number and email; the work you own; the link to each clip that uses it; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not allowed by you, your agent or the law; a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are allowed to act for the owner; and your signature (typing your full name is enough).
What happens next
When a valid notice comes in, we remove the clip or block access to it, and tell the person who posted it. If they believe it was removed by mistake, they can send a counter-notice to the same address with: their name, postal address, phone number and email; the clip that was removed and where it was; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that they believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentified; their consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for their address (or, outside the United States, any court where YouVS can be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the notice; and their signature.
We send the counter-notice to the person who sent the notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have gone to court, we may put the clip back 10 to 14 business days after we got the counter-notice.
Sending a notice or counter-notice you know is false can make you liable for the harm it causes.
Repeat posting
We close the account of someone who keeps posting clips that aren't theirs, and we can refuse them a new account.
